About the Irish Philosophical Society
The Irish Philosophical Society has been in existence since 1962. It counts among its members not only most professional philosophers in Ireland, but also students and members of the public interested in philosophy.
Aim
The aim of the Irish Philosophical Society is to promote philosophical discussion in Ireland. To this end, the society organises two conferences each year at different locations in Ireland, and publishes the Yearbook of the Irish Philosophical Society.
Welcome to our new President, Treasurer & committee members
Welcome to our new President, Dr Catherine Kavanagh of Mary Immaculate College,
Limerick and to our new Treasurer, Dr (des.) Susan Gottlöber of NUI Maynooth. We wish them both the very best in their new roles. We would also like to welcome Dr Mary Shanahan of Mater Dei Institute of Education and St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and Dr Chris Lawn of Mary Immaculate College onto the IPS Committee. We would like to say a special word of thanks to the outgoing President, Dr Michael Dunne, Treasurer, Dr Sarah Otten and committee member Martin McDonnell and to thank them for their great work over the past number of years.
